Somewhere in the North American Pacific Northwest region, the late afternoon sun casts its shadows on a banig, a handwoven mat from the Philippines. This short film renders that moment, together with live sound recorded along the nearby Cedar River.
This piece is about meditation practice. The unsettled shadows in the beginning of the video represent the wearisome thoughts that beset the mind. In the course of time, they become less repetitive, less paralyzing, less intoxicating; for something more liberating, more forgiving, and more powerful emerges: Being, which opens oneself up to genuine compassion and authentic action.
